In the year 2023, the QS World University Rankings with 1,418 institutions across 100 locations. The world’s number one institute is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for the 11th consecutive year. The second position in the rankings is taken by the University of Cambridge rose, while in the third position Stanford University remained. IIT Indore debuted at 396th rank this year, and among the public institutes of eminence IISc, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, and IIT Kharagpur attained a higher ranking.

The University of Hyderabad and the University of Delhi have declined their position from the last year of 2022 while Banaras Hindu University’s rank remained unchanged. All the IITs have improved upon their rankings this year compared to the 2023 and 2022 rankings. IIT Indore has figured among the top 500 this year and has been ranked at 400. IIT Bombay has been ranked 172 this year and in 2022 IIT Bombay stood 177th rank.

All the following institute have retained their rank among the top 500 in the world the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee, and IIT Guwahati. IIT Guwahati (384), IIT Roorkee (369), IIT Kanpur (264), IIT Kharagpur (270), IIT Delhi (174), and the University of Madras (250) are also among the global top 50 research institutions. The University of Calcutta (801-1,000) recorded the highest percentage of female students (63 percent), followed by the University of Mumbai (1,001-1,200) with 57 percent. Amity University (1,001-1,200), on the other hand, employed the highest percentage of female faculty (58 percent), followed by the University of Mumbai (56 percent).
